The leaves are built on a platform three feet in the air to simulate the ground level. The flower is built of three steel sections that bolt together to form a substructure for the distressed wood stem and rusted roofing bloom. One week after the flower was installed, hurricane Ivan hit Birmingham. The sculpture was not damaged.
